Camano Island retreat

It was a beautiful weekend on Camano Island.
Just look at the views........

It was a fun filled weekend with lots of laugher, food and creating. We had guest Stephanie Ackerman as our
creative talent!
If you haven't seen her work check her out
HERE  Stephanie Ackerman Designs / Homegrown  Hospitality

The table was all ready for us when we arrived with cute bracelets made by Lovesquareddesigns and of course, Stephanie's cute felt hearts scattered all over.

One of the many things she teaches is stitching and how relaxing it is to just sit and stitch.   She laid piles of material on the table and what she teaches is to just grab and started putting it together.
Go Rouge!
I had found an old vintage looking kerchief on the table and decided to just start adding to it.   Love how it turned out!

Look at the crazy creative mess we managed to make on the table!

Being that we were so close to the beach we made these super large drift wood hearts.  How amazing did these turn out.

Here's the process as I was piecing all the drift wood together.

Table full of drift wood hearts.  Naturally beautiful!
We made so many more projects.  I'll share more in the next few days.

You are my Hero

Thinking when I made this card that it would be a great card to gift my Dad with.  He is a hero.  He always raised us to be strong and independent individuals. You knew when you disappointed him.  He never had to say anything because you knew what was expected without him shaming or making you feel devalued for what you might have done.
He is a quiet man with a large presence.
A man of few words, but you always know you are loved.
Father's Day on the brain...... and my Dad

But, then I thought sometimes we have to be our own heroes too.

A hero;
is an ordinary individual
who finds the strength
to persevere and endure
in spite of
overwhelming obstacles.
                                                -christopher reeves

Our stories create us to be heroes don't they?  Can you relate to the above quote?  I can think of all the THINGS that I have endured and experienced in my life that have required me to persevere, endure and overcome.
That makes us all a hero!
Our mess of our stories become our message for others. We overcome so that we can help others overcome.
So next time your thinking or are asked who your hero is, be sure to include yourself, as it takes a lot to overcome the many challenging obstacles that make up our stories.  When we stand and share our stories in an empowering way, your story will heal YOU and help heal someone else.
YOU are the hero of your story!
All it takes is one of us.

Paper Scrolls

Friday was my creative class,
we made these beautiful paper scrolls.
I was given the rolls from a friend who had purchased them from Michaels.  We put them together by using heavy jute that I ran through the roll of paper, tied off in a knot and rolled the knot to the center of the roll.
At the bottom is a dowel that I purchased from Home Depot.
We used a permanent glue to attach the dowel to the roll of paper.

This one is mine, giving you a few angles to view it from.

These are just a few of 15 that were created.  I'd say they each did an amazing job!  Love each of these quotes.

Spring is in the Air

Happy friday!
Sharing some outdoor spring decor with you today.
This is my front porch.  I found some beautiful spanish lavender to fill up my flower box.  I tried a hand at growing wheatgrass and I tell you,  it's super fun and easy!. I put the seeds in all kinds of containers.  One was the vintage tin above, it's nice and large and didn't take a lot of seeds to fill it up.

A little hand lettering on my chalkboard for a spring welcoming.
Have you tried a "hand" hahaaa! at hand lettering?  You don't have to be a pro to do this.  Put your own mark on it by having it morph into your own style.  We don't always have to look the same as everyone else!  It can be YOU!  just as you were made!
Try your cursive writing on some copy paper and just keep practicing til you get comfortable writing.

luscious green grass!  love it!
all this tin needs is some googlie eyes on the front of the tin!

Gorgeous Spanish Lavender.....
found these large 4 gallon buckets at Home Depot
If you keep it contained it won't take over and area, but if you plant it in the ground it will spread. It's a nice and hardy plant.

I hope I've inspired you to go gussy up your front porch or back deck just in time for spring!
